Scolymia australis (Reverse Bleeding Apple)
Introduced to the Reefer 170 on the 28th July 2018. Transferred to the D-D Reef-pro 1200 on the 15th March 2020. It pains me to type this but basically I killed this beautiful coral. November 2020 I noticed a couple of small Aiptasia growing on the base of the coral, I treated with them Anti-Aiptasia. Sadly the treatment damaged the Scolymia really badly on one side. I had hoped that with a bit of tender loving care that area could regrow but it turned out the that the mouth was damaged too. I moved it to the refugium for the best chance of recovery and I tried feeding it as much as possible but although it hung on for over six months it never showed any sign of regrowth. The remaining flesh slowly faded away until all that remained was a dead skeleton. To say that I am gutted would be a massive understatement.
